In a move to enhance secure digital engagements, the Apayao State College, through the Information Technology Department-Luna Campus, partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-Cordillera Administrative Region to explore the benefits of the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI). The event, held on August 7 at the Conference Hall, RDE Building, ASC-Luna Campus, was a significant step towards fortifying the college’s digital communication strategies.
Engr. Mike Centenno M. Caban, DICT Planning Assistant, led a comprehensive session on the advantages of PKI, addressing various questions from participants, including college and campus officials. Mr. Llyod Mark C. Razalan, Program Chair of BSIT, acknowledged the active participation of the attendees.
Dr. John N. Cabansag, College President, emphasized the importance of electronic signatures in meeting client needs, stating, “E-signature certificates guarantee the security and reliability of electronic documents.”
Similarly, Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, Vice President for Academics, Research & Extension Services, underscored the broader benefits of PNPKI for both the country and ASC. “The PNPKI provides the necessary framework for secure online transactions, governance, and e-commerce in our country. For ASC, understanding and implementing PKI is vital to safeguarding our digital assets, protecting sensitive information, and fostering a culture of security and trust within our academic community.”
The event concluded with remarks from Dr. Philip Constantine L. Mandac, College Registrar, who encouraged the community to embrace digital transformation. He highlighted that adopting DICT’s offerings would streamline processes and significantly contribute to the ease of doing business at ASC.
